The site in Sawbridgeworth has hybrid planning permission for 184 new homes.
Once developed, the scheme will consist of one- and two-bedroom apartments alongside two- to four-bedroom houses.
Just under half (40%) of these homes will be designated as affordable housing.
The first phase of 85 homes benefit from detailed planning consent, with Barratt David Wilson North Thames resubmitting plans in line with its own house styles.
Works are due to commence this autumn with the first completions anticipated for late 2026.
Alongside new homes, the development will provide two play areas including a green central area.

As part of the circa £5.5m Section 106 agreement, contributions will be made to improve local infrastructure including educational, social care, healthcare and leisure facilities such as the local swimming pool and sports hall.
“We have strong roots in this area, with our recently completed Sawbridge Park development to the west of Sawbridgeworth, and our historic Gilden Park development in Harlow,” said Bill Beyzade, managing director at Barratt David Wilson North Thames.
“We look forward to continuing to work with the local community and authorities alike to bring forward much-needed homes and infrastructure over the coming years.”
